Step Sana is the first single by Kayole’s finest, Toxic Lyrikali, since Bud Flowers in August 2025. The latter received mixed reactions since it was a romantic song. He took a risk by switching things up, and although it didn’t reach as many views as his grittier songs, it was still a success; currently #15 on the Trending Music Videos Chart with over 2 million views. He returns to his signature sound in this track, proving once more why he is a heavyweight in the music industry. The official music video is currently #7 on the Trending Music Videos Chart.
Step Sana Lyrical Breakdown

Step Sana or ‘kanyagia‘ translates to walking quickly or for long, and in this context, Lyrikali refers to the first meaning. He opens the first verse, declaring the ease with which he raps and the fear this elicits within other rappers, going further to describe how they ran: “Tunaifanya bila pressure, bad man, bududum geng / Adi sijaanza kuroga na kuna rapper ametense, aliruka akituhepa fala alihang kwa fence / Chimney, kuna mavitu zimekwama kwa chest.”
He continues by advising that one has to be alert while in the police station. Toxic uses the analogy of wrestlers fighting for a belt to emphasize that if you don’t stand up for your rights, police officers will take advantage of you: “Clean boy lazima nikuwe well dressed, ka reso sa ya kutoka stenje napigania belt / Feds wako well fed, ni kibare utakula ukizubaa usipojidefend.” His lyrical genius shines in the next lines, and he even doubles down on it himself: “I’m cool, but bado wanaingiza njeve, absent, sipelekei goshodo present / Lyrically ill, positive, niko tested, East again, tena iko represented.“

The line employs a double entendre. Figuratively, despite his chill demeanour, Toxic’s presence intimidates others, invoking fear in them. This shows a contrast in which he expects them to be calm, like he is. He follows up by saying he’s absent and doesn’t take a gift to a girl if they see each other. The “lyrically ill, positive, niko tested” line is delivered smoothly and is undisputed. In the chorus, he warns rivals to “step quickly” and retreat from a lyrical or street battle, or face defeat. He boasts of metaphorically knocking them out in broad daylight, showcasing his bold dominance: “Step sana, mangumi ka nguo tunavaana / bishana, knock- knock- knockout mchana, tulijuana ju ya kuvurugana“

Step Sana’s music video reinforces the song’s themes, showing Toxic Lyrikali in an open field at night. As the second verse begins, scenes depict him fighting, burying a defeated rival, evidence markers at his feet and blood splashed on his hands and face.
He compares his flashy style to a high-earning Instagram socialite or influencer, emphasizing that he dresses meticulously to maintain his brand’s reputation: “Ka soshi na piga luk, ganji zinatoka kwa ‘Gram, ndula pyam ndio angalau nisichome brand-new gun, armed ki-helping hand.” A few hours after the song dropped, he quoted the last line in an Instagram post.

A moment of reflection shows a couple of lines later: “Alafu laana sipati, zile ganji tulichai tulisaidia wazazi na pia tulirepent.” Toxic boasts he can’t be cursed as he used his hard-earned money to support his parents and seek redemption. His wordplay shines once more as he declares himself the best of the new generation of artists: “Bado wakidigi wanastep sana, new era, heavyweight, na haribu balance / New Balance kwa look niongezee ladha, ukiniboo unaeza kula bamba.”
Conclusion
The beat is another collaboration between Toxic and producer, hatikvah, as he is the one who also produced Bud Flowers. I particularly love how the atmosphere builds up. Subtle vocals set the ominous stage, a piano sequence comes 10 seconds in and once the beat drops Toxic’s trademark raw sound begins. His delivery and flow have always stood out; he never raises his voice on songs and seems to rap exactly how he speaks. His creativity and wordplay have made him a household name. This song, in particular, is another hit song from his arsenal and I cannot wait to see what he comes up with next. A solid 9.0 rating. Read another article here.
