On a small sewing machine in Eldoret, a dream was stitched together, one thread at a time. Faycis Clothing and Designs began not just as a business, but as a vision to redefine confidence through clothing. Founded by Faith Baliach in 2021, the brand has grown from humble beginnings into a symbol of empowerment for clients seeking bespoke, high-quality outfits that make them feel their best.

What started as a passion project for Miss Baliach soon evolved into a thriving business built on dedication, artistry, and the belief that fashion is more than fabric; it’s a way to celebrate individuality. With each custom piece, Faycis Clothing and Designs weaves together innovation and tradition, creating clothing that speaks directly to the wearer’s heart.

As Faycis Clothesline and Designs continues to grow, the founder’s long-term goal is not just to expand the brand but to inspire and empower the next generation of designers. “My goal is to open a fashion academy,” says Miss Baliach. “I want to teach young people how to be creative designers, and by teaching them, we’ll be opening business opportunities for them as well, so they can be independent.”

This vision reflects Faycis’ commitment to fostering creativity and entrepreneurship within the fashion industry. The academy, which is expected to launch within the next year or two, aims to provide aspiring designers with the skills and tools they need to succeed—furthering Faycis’ impact beyond just clothing design.

Faycis Clothing and Designs is renowned for its dedication to craftsmanship and precision. When describing her design process, Faith Baliach explained, “Once a client walks in and we’ve discussed the design for their choice, the first thing we do is assemble the materials—the fabrics, accessories, and anything else required for the outfit.”

From there, the process unfolds step by step. After gathering all the necessary materials, sketching begins, allowing the design to come to life on paper before any fabric is cut. “We then move to the cutting of the fabric, followed by the sewing. If the client is nearby, we invite them in for a fitting to ensure everything is perfect. If any adjustments are needed, we make them right away.”

The final stage involves adding finishing touches—accessories and any details that make the outfit truly stand out. “At this point, the product is complete, and the client can come to pick it up, knowing they’ve received something made just for them,” says Miss Baliach.

What truly sets Faycis apart is the personalized approach to design. According to Faith , “Clients have different tastes and preferences. Some clients might not want certain cuts or designs, while others are particular about color choices. Before we even begin, we always sit down with the client to understand what they’re comfortable with.”

She continues, “It’s essential to listen to the client’s concerns and preferences—whether it’s not wanting a dress that looks a certain way, or being uncomfortable with a long slit or too much cleavage exposure. By asking for their advice and input, we ensure the final design reflects their personality and style. At the end of the day, it’s the client who will wear the dress, not me, so their comfort is paramount.”

This thoughtful and client-centered approach ensures that every piece from Faycis isn’t just an outfit—it’s a reflection of the client’s individuality and confidence.

In the dynamic world of fashion, staying inspired and relevant is crucial. For Faycis Clothesline and Designs, the key to maintaining creativity lies in a deep passion for design and a continuous drive to innovate. ” Miss Baliach shares, “Fashion is dynamic, and as a designer, you have to stay up to speed with the trends. Personally, I get a lot of my inspiration from online platforms like Pinterest and Instagram. These are where I discover new ideas and see what’s trending globally.”

However, inspiration doesn’t stop there. “There are so many designers out there, and YouTube is also a big source of ideas for me. Inspiration is everywhere—you just have to stay up to date through social media, magazines, and by connecting with other designers around you,” she says.

Embracing technology is also a key part of staying inspired. “I also use an AI animated app that allows me to draw any idea I have, and it generates an image of my imagination. This helps me visualize my thoughts and further explore new concepts before I even start sketching.”

Fashion is constantly evolving, and Faith Baliach believes that technology plays a significant role in that evolution. “Nowadays, people have embraced technology. With the evolving fashion trends, people are learning to use AI-generated inspirations for their designs,” she says. “In the near future, I think AI-inspired designs are going to take over because, through it, you can create something exactly as you imagine. In short, technology is taking over even in the fashion world.”

With these changes in mind, Faycis stays adaptable by blending traditional design methods with emerging technologies. By staying attuned to shifts in both consumer behavior and technological advancements, the brand continues to evolve and offer fresh, innovative pieces that resonate with today’s fashion-forward audience.

For Miss Baliach, one of the most memorable milestones in her career was opening her physical shop in 2022. “It was a huge step for me, and I’ll always remember that moment,” she shares. The shop not only marked a significant achievement, but it also led to an incredible opportunity: “I attended the Kitenge festival in Eldoret for the first time, and that experience opened plenty of doors for me. It helped me connect with a more targeted audience and client base.”

Building on that success, the following year was even more rewarding. In 2023, Faith Baliach attended the Kitenge festival once again—this time leaving with a prestigious honor. “I was crowned the best fashion designer of the year. Kate Actress was present, and she praised our work at Faycis Designs, especially our collection on the runway. That recognition meant so much to me. It was incredible to be acknowledged for the work I had poured so much into over the past year.”

This award not only gave her recognition but also opened doors that expanded Faycis’ reach. “It set a place for me in Eldoret and even helped us gain clients from all over the country. I’m truly grateful for the opportunities that followed, and I thank God for everything,” says Faith.

The challenge of balancing creativity and business is something every designer faces, and Miss Baliach understands the importance of managing both sides effectively. One of the most critical aspects is pricing. “When it comes to giving a client the price of an outfit, that price reflects the cost of fabric, labor, and the time that goes into managing the business,” she explains.

However, she recognizes that not all clients may immediately understand why prices are set the way they are. “Sometimes when a client finds the price high, I always make sure to explain that lowering the price would mean compromising the design. I advise them to try and meet our requirements, as this ensures we don’t compromise the quality of the final product,” she says.

Faith emphasizes that compromises can lead to dissatisfaction. “If you cut corners to meet a lower price, the client will often go back to compare the design with what they saw online—what they ordered versus what they received. And usually, this happens when the client themselves fail to meet our design requirements. It’s essential to avoid these compromises, as it can lead to poor branding and client disappointment.”

For Miss Baliach, maintaining the integrity of the design is paramount, even when business pressures come into play. “It’s about creating a balance between quality and price, and never sacrificing the vision of the design for a quick profit.”

When reflecting on the current state of fashion, Faith notes a significant shift in perception. “Today, people are more appreciative of the effort that goes into fashion design. In the past, it was considered an ‘odd’ career choice,” she says. “When I was younger, if I said I wanted to become a fashion designer, people would look at me strangely. They would call it an ‘old person’s job’ or something for the unlearned. But now, there’s a greater appreciation for creativity and skill in fashion. The system is encouraging young people to embrace fashion, and there’s much more openness to learning, whether through schools or apprenticeships in tailoring and design.”

This evolution in how fashion is perceived resonates deeply with Faith who believes that fashion’s role is to empower individuals. “Fashion to me is about self-expression and confidence. It’s about creating something that makes people feel good about themselves—something that aligns with their personality and helps them stand out in the world.”

For Miss Baliach, fashion is more than just a career—it’s a true passion. “Fashion is my love; it’s more of a hobby for me,” she says. “I love creating beautiful pieces, and when I see people wearing outfits from my collection, it fills my heart with joy. I love everything related to fashion. I actually left my job just to focus on what I love—fashion designing.”

Her devotion to the craft is clear. To her, fashion isn’t just a profession—it’s a calling, a means of creative expression, and a way to connect with others through the beauty of design.

As a designer, Faith is proud of many pieces she has created, but one design stands out as her personal favorite. “My favorite design was for a client’s engagement in December 2024,” she shares. “The process took about a week to complete, and the final product was beyond perfect, just like we had envisioned. She was so happy with the result, and we actually shipped it abroad for her.”

For Faith this design represents more than just a piece of clothing; it symbolizes the joy and satisfaction of turning a vision into reality. “That experience was one of my biggest achievements at Faycis. It showed me the power of collaboration with my clients and the happiness we can create through fashion.”

When it comes to designers who inspire her, Faith is drawn to the innovative work of several industry leaders. “My favorite fashion designer of all time is Veeke James, a young fashion icon from Nigeria,” she shares with enthusiasm. “Her creativity is beyond amazing. She designs from scratch and even creates her own fabrics, which is something that really inspires me. I look up to her because one day, I want my brand to grow just like hers.”

In addition to Veeke James, Miss Baliach draws inspiration from other fashion icons such as Abbas Woman and Prudential Gabriel, who owns a fashion academy in Nigeria. “These designers affirm to me that fashion is truly worth pursuing. They show that with hard work, dedication, and creativity, you can achieve anything in this industry.”

At the heart of Faycis lies a commitment to building trust and delivering quality. For Miss Baliach, the core values of her brand are centered around reliability, trustworthiness, and excellence. “I want my clients to gain trust in us,” she shares. “Fashion designers have often been labeled with negative terms, like ‘wakora,’ but I want to end that notion by consistently providing my clients with quality products and delivering them on time.”

Her dedication to timeliness is an essential part of her brand philosophy. “I always make sure to deliver outfits on the promised date,” she says. “I don’t want my clients to be in a situation where they ordered their outfits to be delivered on the 10th, but they receive them on the 15th. That’s something I take very seriously, and I want to make sure that my clients know they can rely on me.”

These principles of reliability, trust, and attention to detail are the pillars that Faycis stands upon, setting the brand apart in a competitive industry.

Miss Baliach is excited about the future of Faycis and the upcoming projects in the works. “At the moment, I’m collaborating with an amazing fashion icon,” she reveals. “Our work will be out soon on our online pages, and I can’t wait to share it with everyone.”

This collaboration promises to showcase fresh designs and further solidify Faycis’ place in the fashion world, creating new opportunities for growth and exposure.

For those aspiring to enter the world of fashion, Faith has some powerful advice that reflects her own journey. She believes that the world is full of limitless opportunities, and anyone can achieve their dreams as long as they trust themselves and follow their passion. Creativity is key, and designers should always focus on improving their craft.

She also emphasizes the importance of self-belief, urging young designers to avoid comparing themselves to others. Instead, they should focus on their own growth. The goal is to be better than you were yesterday, rather than engaging in competition. According to Miss Baliach, the moment you start competing with others is when you lose sight of your own unique potential.

Faith Baliach offers valuable advice for young creators looking to build a successful fashion business. She emphasizes that growth requires investment: “If you want growth, you must be willing to spend,” she says. “Invest in good equipment, such as high-quality machines, and surround yourself with a strong support system. Make your business your best friend, and take the time to build it up.”

Branding is another crucial area she highlights. “Brand yourself and your business, both physically and on social media,” she advises. “Having a physical location where you can connect with your customers is essential, but you must also embrace digital platforms like TikTok and Instagram. These tools allow you to reach a wider audience and prove that you can garner more clients and referrals.”

Her advice underlines the importance of both traditional business practices and adapting to the digital age for success.

Faith Baliach envisions a future where her influence extends far beyond the designs she creates. Her ultimate goal is to become a fashion icon, not only known for her creative work but also for her ability to mentor and inspire others. “I want to be someone who mentors aspiring fashion designers,” she shares. “I want people to look up to me and say, ‘I want to be like Faycis.’”

Her passion for guiding others is evident, as she hopes to leave a lasting legacy by helping young people grow into successful business owners. “It’s important for me to see young people evolve into businesspeople, teaching them the skills they need to succeed. That’s the legacy I want to leave behind.”
