58 Flava marks Buruklyn Boyz’ 2nd studio album following the Bboy Settingz EP (2023.) It boasts 17 tracks with notable industry features from Lilmaina, Bensoul, Nviiri The Storyteller and Breeder LW. A standout international feature comes from Honduras’ dancehall reggae artist, Albeezy. The two final features are Five8records rising talents Younglouie58 and Nito Trip 58. 58 Flava already stands out from any previous release, with the dynamic duo experimenting with new sounds such as an Amapiano beat on the song Magarita featuring Lilmaina. Their debut East Mpaka London (2022) album lacked such range, showing their growth over three years. However, it was a success, noted by their most-streamed Spotify track, Dream Ya Kutoka Kwa Block from it.
Track By Track Analysis

With Kenyan Rap and Rich Or Broke broken down extensively, I will cover the remaining 15 tracks. Buruklyn Boyz have outdone themselves with the variety on this project. As mentioned earlier, the Amapiano beat on Magarita ft. Lilmaina was unexpected. Nevertheless, the trio immaculately complemented each other. The lovely chorus from Ajay: “Mtoto ni msweet Mamacita, mtoto ni msweet Señorita, mtoto ni msweet Magarita, mtoto ni msweet!” is irresistable. Confession ft. Bensoul, keeps the romance alive, Bensoul’s heartfelt chorus pouring out love for a lady. The three’s styles meshed beautifully, finishing off the love song perfectly. These two are among my top five favourites.
Nimpee Nani ft. Nviiri The Storyteller features classic vocals from singer Nviiri, who took lead in the chorus questioning: “Who should I give it to?” as he has many options. This also featured Amapiano beats which the duo synced perfectly with. Another song in my top five favourites is Nataka, where the duo’s introspective depth shines. Ajay’s chorus ponders his numerous insatiable desires over a mellow piano. Likewise, Mr. Right captures universal struggles in his verse.
Usicheze Na Biz ft. Albeezy & Breeder LW sees Buruklyn Boyz return to the classic, gritty, drill sound we are accustomed to. The song celebrates hard work, timely debt payments, and business hustle. The beat, produced by Grammy-winning U.S. producer Dude Clayy, added an energetic feeling to the song. Breeder’s smooth flow and lyrical prowess served as the perfect icing to the cake. Chapaa took a similar style, with their love for money (chapaa) loud and clear. The foreboding background vocals create an uneasy atmosphere, matching properly with the hard hitting drill beat.
Machete was the 1st single and promotional music video for 58 Flava, which premiered on the 18th of July, 2025, months ahead of the album’s release. It’s unique beat features beautiful background vocals and a violin melody that matches the braggadicious theme. Mr. Right boasts in the chorus of his riches, jewellery and fashion sense. Another aggressive track, Digida, showcases Ajay’s response to numerous callouts from Githurai 45 artist Natty. Over the aggressive drill beat he calls him a coward, a child and insults the green flag his crew GTA are known for waving.
A mellow drill beat on, Exposure, allows the duo to brag about how associating with them will give anyone the spotlight. Sharp lyricism is evident throughout the album, one of my favorites is a pun in Ajay’s first verse: “Chali yake akona insecurites, mbleina amegeuka soldier.” The songs overall unapologetic tone only gives it character. Slow Motion‘s upbeat tempo is suitable for a feel-good dance with one’s lady. The groovy beat features many creative sounds, hence completing my top five favorite songs list on the album.
Suprisingly, Ajay sings the chorus to Twende Nayo ft. Younglouie58 & Nito Trip 58, hitting the high notes angelicly. The beat is simple yet gentle, perfect for storytelling which Mr. Right chooses to dedicate to a special lady he’s eyeing. Younglouie and Nito’s verses were also spot on, showing their talent. Mecca employs another simple mellow beat, where Mr. Right’s confirms that his dreams and aspirations will be achieved. Ajay matches his energy, confirming that if his mother and brothers are alright and happy at home, that’s all that matters.
Clean Sh*t showcases Mr. Right’s love for riding motorcycles, evident by lines in the chorus: “Gas, V-Power niko Jogoo Road nikidip in / Mwas keep up smoothly, ma slow wheelie.” The beat produced by odzz is one of the best on the album; featuring a flute that gives the track a certain infectious bounce. Mashida ft. Younglouie 58 is a clear warning to any troublemakers to stay away from them as they don’t want any problems. 58 Flava’s many unique beats with creative melodies, provided an enjoyable listening experience.

Christmas was actually released last Christmas, but features on the tracklist. The song is unsurpirisngly, a celebration of the birth of Jesus, with the two listing what they wish to get for Christmas; mostly naming designer clothes, jewellery, a house and lastly a Mercedes Benz. All throughout the album, the sound engineering by Clue Ashaivisha Track was crisp.
Conclusion

58 Flava captures Buruklyn Boyz at a new level of influence. They are setting the tone for what feels current in Nairobi, from sound, fashion and attitude. Through their merch line Baggy Unit, they continue to shape how their audience connects with their world. The album builds on what they have started and shows how far their music has come. Their signature ad-lib “Kwani ni kesho” is engraved in many young Kenyan’s minds and with endorsements, their longevity is inevitable. The album was solid, enjoyable and has endless replay value. My only complaint is lack of music videos, however, with numerous prominent industry collaborations I expect a couple of them soon. I rate the album 9.5/10. Read another article here.
